I just wanted to write you and let you know how wonderful your website is! I am currently a pre-service teacher and am starting my second quarter of student teaching. I go to a rather small university that doesn't have a Spanish program. I took most of my Spanish classes at the state university and studied abroad in Costa Rica last semester. I will graduate in December with a degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Spanish. The one school that has contacted me has asked me to develop a Spanish curriculum for Kindergarten through 8th grade. I started this program last year; I’m the only elementary language teacher in the district. You have been my mentor and my role model. Just this week alone I’m using the “Nochebuena está llena” song I found on your website, the clear plastic backpack you suggested to help teach classroom objects, and the “Cuadros de familia” book. Before I found your site I was already using José Luis Orozco’s song “Esta noche es Nochebuena,” but this year I’m going to serve donut hole buñuelos in the way you suggested. As much as the suggestions for materials were useful to me, perhaps my favorite link is your suggestions for what to do when you’re having a bad day. Just knowing that even Kathy Siddons has a bad day sometimes helps me keep my problems in perspective. Most days, my kids love Spanish, and I love teaching it.
