Teacher Pointers: Flag Lesson
As a 30-minute pre-employment observation lesson for a group of six children who have never studied Spanish, may I suggest one about colors using flags of Spanish-speaking countries?

Concentrate as your teaching goal on the students learning five colors: yellow, green, blue, red, and white. Use EU, Puerto Rico or Cuba, Bolivia, Guinea Ecuatorial, México, España, Ecuador, and Uruguay or Argentina for maximum interest.

Use TPR actions (point to, touch, hold up, pass around, look at, color) for more variety and use of both sides of the brain.

Consider putting the students in a circle or semi-circle, also.

As a contingency plan, you could also incorporate a bit of map reading as well. Have the students locate the countries themselves (or just the
continents) since most of these are easy cognates.

The best place on the web for excellent flags to copy is http://www.flags.net/
