Los colores - Colors
Soy un arcoiris. I'm a rainbow.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the gray button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue.

The color words in Spanish are:

rojo, anaranjado, yellow, verde, azul morado

You will see una paleta (a palette) of colors.

A palette is where an artist places colors of paints
so it's easy to mix colors together.

Red and yellow make orange; blue and yellow make green; and red and blue make purple.

There is a special place in a palette to place your thumb to hold it tight.

Click on each color and you will hear a man say the names in Spanish.

Notice that he says a different name for orange than you may hear from your teacher in Spanish class.

He says, "Naranja" which is another way of saying orange.

And naranja is also the word for the tasty fruit -- just like in English!

Did you know that Spain grows some of the best oranges in the world?

Spain is a country in Europe where Spanish was first spoken. ¡Olé! Hooray!

Click on any crayon and listen to the name of the color in Spanish.

Then move your mouse from left to right over the rectangles with letters.

When you see a letter that is the color of the crayon, click on it.

You will hear the name for that Spanish letter.

When you are finished, the whole color word appears.

Just click on the arrow on the right for any crayon and color..

Keep practicing, until you can say the six color words, too.
Soy una naranja alegre. I'm a happy orange.
Es la bandera de España. It's the flag of Spain.
Es una paleta. It's a palette.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the brown button on the left.

Es una caja de crayones. It's a box of crayons.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the green button on the left.

Match the right color word with the picture.

Click on the up and down arrows to make the match.

When you have matched correctly, a balloon floats to the top of the screen.
Soy un vendedor de globos. I'm a balloon seller.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the yellow button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
Have fun remembering where you saw the right color word and picture.

Click on the right pair of rectangles.

Again, you will see a balloon appear when you are right.

You really know these six important colors, don't you?
Soy un globo de aire caliente. I'm a hot air balloon.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the pink and blue buttons on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
Have fun playing these two different color story games with a friendly rana (frog) named Freda who speaks Spanish..

Just click on the arrows and crayons to play the color story games.
Me gusta saltar. I like to jump.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the orange button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
Now one more color game!

This time five friendly cocodrilos (crocodiles) need your help.

The five cocodrilos are very hungry.

Listen for the color word and click on the fish that's the same color.

If you're correct, the right cocodrilo will eat the right fish!

¡Buen provecho, cocodrilos! Enjoy your meal, crocodiles!
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the red button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
Somos cinco cocodrilos hambrientos. We are five hungry crocodiles.
Now you will hear Señora S. say the rest of the colors by clicking on the red button.

Here are the other Spanish color words:

         café, negro, blanco, gris, rosado

¡Felicitaciones! Congratulations!

You will know ALL eleven colors.

But do you know Señora S.'s favorite color?

Look at the rectangle above! It's AZUL!
Somos estrellas de muchos colores. We are stars of many colors.
Somos estrellas de muchos colores. We are stars of many colors.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the blue buttons on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
In the first game from Spain, you will match the correct color of the pencil by clicking on the checkmark.

Click on comprobar (check) to find out if your choice is correct.

The words CORRECTO (correct) or INCORRECTO (incorrecy) will appear.

In the second game, you will put the color word jigsaw puzzle together by moving the blue pieces from right to left.

Notice that the puzzle uses marrón instead of café.

That's another way of saying brown in Spanish.

Third and fourth graders, do you remember
hearing marrón in the Muzzy video?
Somos los personajes de "Muzzy." We are the characters from "Muzzy."
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the purple button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
A good way to review all eleven colors is to make a bilingual coloring book.

A bilingual book is in two languages -- Spanish and English for you.

"Bi" means two.

Here's another idea ...

If you know another language, you can add those color words, too!

If you don't know another world language, ask an adult who does to help you.

Or, go to any one of these websites for color words:

You would then be making a trilingual book with three languages.

"Tri" means three.

Have fun creating your own color book!

Somos bombillos. We're lightbulbs.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the dark gray button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
Click on the red letters to start.

Pass your mouse carefully over each ladybug and you will hear Liliana say the color names.

Enjoy playing with these cute ladybugs.
Somos tres mariquitas. We are three ladybugs.
La bandera de España es roja y amarilla. / The flag of Spain is red and yellow.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the cream-colored button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
To change the color of the box or boxes or the

book or books, click on any color and then click on the four

objects. Here brown is called "marrón."  Notice that in Spanish

the color words follow the object ("the box brown"). In English, the

color word goes before the object.
Anacleta says, "Please read ALL the directions below before clicking on the gray button on the left.
¡Gracias! Thank you."
Here you will review the colors you already know and learn even more color names, including ones for hair color! Click on the green "START" button to begin.
